You may want to consider getting one of those portable AC units that you could move from room to room for the time being (at least for your bedroom or salon), so that you have one “comfortable” room for you and the dogs as an escape. That would help get you through this brutal summer that you are experiencing in France. I have found that as I have gotten older that I do not tolerate extremes in temperature as well any longer and I would be totally unable to function in the temperatures that you are currently experiencing. We are having mid to high 90’s here daily in Missouri (aka Misery due to additional high humidity) and I would not be able to survive it without AC at home, work and in my vehicle.

The humidity is murder! I don't miss that though I'm so used to it growing up in VA. My survival technique so far is lying on the bed reading Eliz George lol. Sometimes with a wet washrag on my head.

I had figured a bad week here or there I could deal with, but I'm definitely at the point of calling the AC guy...

We have entered what I call our “winter” months. Now until October. Indoors, under shade, waking up quite early before dawn to walk the dog. Today is cooler with a high of 91 degrees or around that until next Tuesday. Then we are off to the hundreds until late September. Luckily we have dry heat most of the time with sometimes fresher air and cooler nights. Was able to open up house this morning with fans blowing because it is still in the high 60’s. Thermostat set at 74. I cannot take it any hotter. Will pay through the nose to Southern Edison Electric, but worth it. I have to be able to sleep at night. Hope you weather breaks with cool breezes and fresh winds. Happy 4th of July tomorrow, such as it is here in US. You moved at the perfect time. Enjoy the books. I am drooling.

100s until late September? You are a stalwart soul. I do love those coolish early mornings, best time of the day.

I was going to redo my kitchen but seriously thinking about getting AC instead.

Nell, your books are not just like Martin Walker’s at all. The only similarity is that the hero or heroine both live in a small town in France. That’s it. By the way, Elizabeth George’s Lindley books are a great series. Enjoy!

Well, you certainly can never say that you have nothing to read. Are they all in French? Any favorite authors?

They're mostly in English. I'm always reading something in French but I think mysteries not a good choice because I might miss all kind of clues!
